Immune-Boosting Smoothie

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control, the best way to protect yourself and others at this time is by social distancing, washing your hands, and avoid touching your face. Another way to optimize your health and immune system is by reducing your stress, getting adequate sleep, staying physically active, and eating nutrient-dense foods. You can read more tips for maintaining a healthy immune system on our recent blog post, by clicking here.

This smoothie is packed full of ingredients that will help boost your immune system and keep your body hydrated:

  • Mango: rich source of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant and plays a vital role in immune defense mechanisms to help your body fight off infection.

  • Ginger: a natural anti-emetic, which helps reduce feelings of nausea

  • Coconut Water: rich in electrolytes like potassium and magnesium to help hydrate the body

  • Leafy greens: source of vitamin A, which is a powerful antioxidant and plays a vital role in proper immune function

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 1/2 cup frozen mango

  • 1 large handful of fresh or frozen leafy greens (spinach, kale, etc.)

  • 1 small chunk of fresh ginger

  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts

  • 1 cup coconut water
