Homemade gifts are a thoughtful way to show your loved ones how much you care. Whether it's for a secret Santa gift, a stocking stuffer, or a thoughtful addition to another gift, this DIY Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Jar idea is definitely going to be a hit! And who doesn't love cookies?!
Here are the ingredients/supplies you will need...

FOR THE JARS:
1½ cup (180g) all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup large flake or quick oats
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup chocolate chips (or as many as you can fit into the jar!)
1 quart (940 ml) mason jar
1 piece of clean paper OR funnel
Ribbon
GIFT RECIPIENT WILL ADD:
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS:
FOR THE JARS:
Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl.
Pour dry mixture into a 1-quart sized jar using a folded clean piece of paper OR funnel. Shake the jar so the flour mixture is spread evenly on the bottom.
Add rolled oats. Ensure it is evenly spread.
Add brown sugar. Ensure it is evenly spread.
Fill the jar with chocolate chips to the top (~3/4 cup)
Seal jar tightly with a lid and tie a ribbon around the top. Hand-draw or print out a label with the other ingredients needed (butter, egg, and vanilla extract) and the recipe (below).

Recipe for the label to bake the cookies:
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Using a hand blender or whisk, mix together softened butter, egg and vanilla in a medium bowl until creamy.
Pour dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mix and stir until combined.
Shape dough into 2-inch balls, place on a prepared baking sheet and bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 8 minutes, or until slightly undercooked.
Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, and then transfer to a cookie rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
